Together With Six Major European Railway Companies, DB Schenker Creates The Xrail Alliance

(Prague, 15. March 2010) - The Xrail‘s main objective is to ensure bigger transportation reliability and speed so that the railway becomes a fully-fledged alternative to road transport. DB Schenker, SNCB Logistics (Belgium), ČD Cargo, CFL Cargo (Luxembourg), Rail Cargo Austria (Austria), Green Cargo (Sweden) and SBB Cargo (Switzerland) represent the Xrail Alliance founder members. Xrail guarantees its customers that at least 90 per cent of consignments reaches the destination at estimated time of arrival, and, offers responding to inquiries for transportation services will be ready within three days.

„I consider the foundation of the European Xrail Alliance a major milestone in the field of rail freight traffic towards increasing its competitiveness. A higher flexibility and dependability of railway traffic in the area of consignment transportation in individual carriages or groups of carriages rank among the main advantages of this union of seven largest European rail carriers,“ says Ondřej Jašek, DB Schenker’s Rail Transportation Product Manager.

According to Ondřej Jašek the freight traffic by rail has become more competitive, if compared with the truck transport, which will be certainly appreciated not only by the customers, to whom the carriers may offer new transportation solutions with shorter delivery time and under more advantageous terms and conditions. The creation of the Xrail Alliance will prove beneficial also for the public, because railway has been much more environmentally friendly. „ By getting involved into the Xrail, DB Schenker made another important step towards the friendly green logistics,“ adds Ondřej Jašek.
